Este jueves 3 de mayo comunidades afectadas por la minería realizaron una marcha en la ciudad de Quito. La movilización arrancó desde el parque El Arbolito hacia la Contraloría General del Estado y posteriormente al Consejo de Participación Ciudadana y Control Social Transitorio (CPCCS-T).

El objetivo fue solicitar que se realice una investigación a todas las acciones y omisiones del ministerio de Minas, ministerio del Ambiente, Corte Constitucional, Senagua y otros organismos públicos, que están involucrados en el otorgamiento de concesiones mineras, pues se han realizado estudios de exploración inicial y avanzada, así como el despojo de territorios y privatización del agua.

Las comunidades que participaron de este pedido fueron: San Pablo de Amalí (Bolívar), Quimsacocha (Cuenca), Pallatanga (Riobamba), Intag (Imbabura), Tundayme (Zamora Chinchipe), San Luis de Pambil (Bolívar), Nabón (Azuay), Girón (Cuenca) santa Isabel Saraguro (Loja) y Esmeraldas; que se han mantenido alrededor de 20 años en la lucha y que en algunos casos han sido parte de la persecución y criminalización e incluso han sido encarcelados por defender su territorio.

Finalmente, luego de haber sido recibidos por el pleno del CPCCS-T, estas delegaciones se dirigieron a la Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana a participar de una Pamba mesa; una de sus tradiciones ancestrales.
