Originalmente, Alianza País (AP35) se fundó como un movimiento crítico a la partidocracia neoliberal que gobernó al Ecuador desde su retorno a la democracia formal.

La simpatía electoral que logró fue construida por la identidad discursiva contra el poder de las élites y por la promoción de un progresismo, al que llamaron socialismo en sus distintas versiones en Latinoamérica.

En los momentos de éxito de AP35, que coinciden con la fase de recuperación del capitalismo y la demanda de materias primas, las masas fueron seducidas por la modernización de la infraestructura del país que detrás escondió millonarias coimas y bochornosos actos de corrupción.

Pero, con el advenimiento de la depresión del ciclo económico, se desnudó la esencia de un proyecto político embarrado de prepotencia y preñado de irresponsabilidad en el manejo económico. Así, a la par de los bajos precios del petróleo y los minerales, llegó el desgaste de Alianza País quien no pudo sostener la reelección indefinida de su caudillo mayor.

Las ilusiones de una transformación de las relaciones de poder en el Ecuador se desplomaron en menos de una década; el rechazo popular al partido de gobierno se convirtió en un anticorreísmo efervescente que obligó a Moreno a tomar distancia y luego romper relaciones con su mentor.

La ruptura entre los caudillos del oficialismo generó una especie de bifurcación de Alianza País: una facción, no exorcizada del correísmo, aún gobierna junto a Moreno y otra camarilla de cheerleaders del ex presidente han pactado más de una vez con los morenistas en la Asamblea Nacional, a pesar de que ahora construyen un Partido (Maná) del cual, antes de inaugurarlo, ya han sido simbólicamente expulsados.

Por ello , los intentos por relanzar a AP35 no convencen. El cambio de colores, la renovación de cuadros dirigentes o el llamado a acuerdos políticos, adoptados en su última Convención Nacional, son insuficientes para evitar su descrédito. Las próximas elecciones serán el termómetro del rechazo del pueblo.

Así es la metamorfosis de AP35 es un cambio de formas, es el ocaso de un caudillo a quien reemplazaron por otro con estilo distinto, es una permanencia del neoliberalismo antes tolerado y ahora promocionado, es la continuación de los intereses de los ricos y la afectación a los pobres.
Se convirtieron en lo que criticaban, desde hace rato forman parte de la partidocracia.
